Circular route from Gaucín along the Camino de Benarrabá and Umbría
A circular route from Gaucín, through forests and farms, over dirt tracks and the cork cutters path, with excellent views over the coast, the mountains and the villages of the Serranía de Ronda
This circular hiking route begins and ends in the pictures white village of Gaucín, known as "the Balcony of the Ronda Mountains", due to its amazing views over the strait of Gibraltar. We walk through forests with a great variation of different types of native trees and endemic plants. Passing private estates of cork forests, we get a view to the tiny village Benarrabá, hidden in the mountains, before we return to Gaucín on a different path. The village itself and it's impressive castle called "Castillo del Águila"- the eagles castle, is worth a visit and we'll take a stroll through its streets before we can have some typical tapas in a local bar.
